3 Bureau Free Credit Report

3 Bureau Free Credit ReportEvery one is entitled to get a free copy of his credit reports from the 3 major credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax & Experian) every 12 months.

The credit reporting bussines is regulated by the federal government by means of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) that was signed into law in 2003.

For this purpose, the three major credit bureaus set up a joint website that combins the requests for free annual credit reports from consumers.

This website (www.annualcreditreport.com) is the ONLY place to get your 3 bureau free credit report. Although each of the credit bureaus keeps a web site where it provides credit reports, DO NOT try to get your reports there. If you do – you’ll be asked to provide your credit card details, and you’ll be charged for these reports.

You have three options to order your 3 major credit reports: online, over the phone or by mail. Choosing the online option enables you to view your 3 bureau free credit report instantly, download them or save them.

Most people order a combined report from all 3 major credit bureaus (called 3-in-1 credit report), but you can opt to order just one or two reports at a time. Because you are entitled for a free report from each of the bureaus annually, staggering your reports and ordering one report every 4 months enables you to monitor your credit more frequently.

Remember that this site is the only place that is save, free and monitored by the FTC. Numerous other sites advertise “free credit reports”. Many are imposter sites that either try to steal information from you, or charge you a fee for a service that’s free by law!
