Credit Report Score Chart

Credit Report Score ChartYour credit score is the single most important number in your financial life! Here is the credit report score chart of the two most used credit scores: Fico and Vantage.

FICO credit score dominates the market – more than 90% of all lenders are using it for making lending decisions and determining your terms. FICO runs on a scale from 300 to 850.

Vantage credit score was developed in 2006 by the 3 major credit bureaus in an attempt to compete with Fico. It claims to better predict risks and benefit with consumers that have “thin” credit files, but most creditors continue to use FICO. Vantage runs on a scale from 501-990.

The following credit report score chart illustrates the differences between Fico and Vantage:

As the chart clearly illustrates, if you have a credit score of 680 for example, it actually means nothing unless you know which credit report score chartis being used. If the 680 is a Fico score then you have good credit and can expect very good terms. Contrary, if it’s a Vantage score – you have very bad and will probably won’t even qualify. Understanding Credit Scores
Your FICO score is based on your credit report. Since your credit reports at each of the 3 major credit bureaus may vary – you actually have 3 different Fico scores, depending on which credit report supplied it. In fact, each of the 3 credit bureaus uses a proprietary variation of FICO, namely Beacon, TransRisk, Empirica, Pinnacle, ScorePower etc. (See ../credit-score-range/ for more information).

As to further complicate matters, there are 3 diffrent FICO Credit Score versions (Standard, Auto industry & Mortgage), each tweaked to suit the corresponding industry’s needs.

This means that every consumer actually has 9 different FICO scores! See ../understanding-fico-scores/ for more information.
